Male Swimmer of the Week

 

Rafael Candido

Wright State

Sr., Recife, Brazil

Candido helped lead the Raiders to wins in the 400 Medley Relay and 400 Freestyle Relay against the Bearcats on Saturday and then helped WSU win the 200 Medley Relay against Butler on Sunday. Individually, Candido broke the WSU pool record in the 100-meter freestyle, posing a winning time of :45.36.

 

Female Swimmer of the Week

 

Molly Cox

UW-Green Bay

Sr., Green Bay, Wis.

Cox broke the Dorschel Natatorium record in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 17:40.28, topping the previous mark by over 14 seconds. Cox also won the 500 free (5:11.71) and was a member of the victorious 400 free relay (3:38.18) against Youngstown State and Illinois State. In Friday's win over Western Illinois, she finished first in the 200 free (1:56.63).

 

Male Diver of the Week

 

Chris Dalman

Cleveland State

Sr., Auburn, Wash.

Dalman set a Cleveland State record in the three-meter dive with a score of 405.15 on Saturday against Miami (Ohio). Dalman, who already owns CSU's one-meter dive mark, added a season-best 370.65 en route to winning  the one-meter dive. He has won 25 of 26 diving events in dual action, with his only loss coming against Ohio State in November.

 

Female Diver of the Week

 

Crystal Grinstead

Wright State

Sr., Hamilton, Ohio

Grinstead recorded wins in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events against Cincinnati on Saturday. The senior posted a score of 272.32 in the three-meter event and then broke the pool record in one-meter event, posting ascore of 302.02.

 

Other Men's Top Performers for the Week

 

Chase Gravengood

UW-Milwaukee

Jr., Oconomowoc, Wis.

Gravengood helped UWM to its fifth-straight dual victory by claiming three wins. He won the 400 IM by over 20 seconds, touching the wall in 4:05.76 to break the Klotsche Natatorium record of 4:07:45. He also won the 100 fly in :51.88, topping the field by nearly three seconds. Lastly, Gravengood was a member of the victorious 200 medley relay team.

 

Marko Milenkovic

Cleveland State

So., Nis, Serbia and Montenegro

Milenkovic won all three events in which he competed as the Vikings claimed a 147-96 win over defending MAC champ Miami (Ohio) on Saturday. Milenkovic started the day by posting a 1:41.69 in the 200 free and then won the 100 free in :46.00, which is the team's top time this season. He completed the day by swimming the lead leg of the winning 400 free relay team (3:09.02).

 

Jason Brozek

Butler

Sr., Great Bend, Kan.

Brozek notched a season-best 2:00.71 in the 200 IM, beating the Raiders' top finisher by just under a second.  He also tallied a season-best mark in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:56.99.

 

Dan Lindstrom

UW-Green Bay

Sr., Vulcan, Mich.

Lindstrom claimed a pair of titles in helping UW-Green Bay to its eighth straight dual meet win with a victory over Western Illinois Friday. He was victorious in the 200 individual medley (2:02.83) as well as the 200 breaststroke (2:15.67).

 

Ryan Fitzer

UIC

Sr., Naperville, Ill.

Fitzer posted first-place scores in both the one-meter (265.90) and three-meter (205.20) against Valparaiso this past Saturday.

 

Ryan Kellerman

Wright State

Sr., Erlanger, Ky.

Kellerman won the three-meter and one-meter events against Cincinnati this past weekend and no diving events were held against Butler. Kellerman set new pool records in both the one-meter and three-meter events against the Bearcats on Saturday. The senior broke the pool record in the one-meter event with a score of 311.62 and then won the three-meter event with a new pool record score of 360.37, breaking a 25 year old mark.

 

Other Women's Top Performers for the Week

 

Olivia Arnold

Youngstown State

So., Rutherglen, Australia

Against UIC on Friday, Arnold posted a personal-best time of 4:42.19 in the 400 IM to win by more than seven seconds, and her winning time of 5:21.90 in the 500 free was more than five seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

 

Emily Duesler

UW-Milwaukee

Sr., Middleton, Wis.

Duesler added a win against Western Illinois by topping the field on the one-meter board with 266.50 points. The total also gave Duesler an NCAA Zone qualifying score on the one-meter.

 

Marianne Lionell

Cleveland State

Sr., Loddekopinge, Sweden

Lionell placed first in both the 200 free (2:00.14) and 100 breast (1:09.01) and swam the second leg of the winning 200 medley relay team (1:51.58) against St. Francis (Pa.).

 

Mary Beth Arnold

Butler

Sr., Indianapolis, Ind.

Arnold tabbed a runner-up showing in the 100 free with a season-best time of :56.87. She also finished with a second-place time of :26.14 in the 50 free and helped the 200 free relay to a season-best 1:46.60.

 

Lauren McGraw

UW-Green Bay

Fr., Woodbury, Minn.

In Friday's win over Western Illinois, McGraw won the one-meter competition with a score of 243.70 and took the three-meter title with a total of 243.85. The following day in team wins over Illinois State and Youngstown State, McGraw chipped in with a victory on the one-meter with her score of 238.40 and finished as the runner-up on the three-meter, collecting 240.50 points.

 

Andrea Giczewski

UIC

Jr., Livonia, Mich.

Giczewski won the 200 free (1:56.33) and the 100 free (:52.97) and anchored a victorious 400 free relay against Youngstown State. On Saturday at Valparaiso she won the 100 back (1:00.20) while speeding to a 50 free win in :24.68. Giczewski also anchored a 200 medley relay win against the Crusaders. 

 

Sarah Economides

UIC

Sr., Downers Grove, Ill.

Economides captured four victories over the weekend, winning both the one-meter and three-meter events against Youngstown State on Friday and at Valparaiso on Saturday.

 

Erin Reilly

Wright State

Sr., Mequon, Wis.

Reilly won both the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter breaststroke on Saturday aginst Butler. The senior posted a time of 25.73 in the 50 free and won the 100 breast in a time of 1:09.49.
