Male Swimmer of the Week

 

Jakub Dobies

Cleveland State

Fr., Plock, Poland

In his first competition at CSU, Dobies set a Horizon League record in the 100 breast with a time of :55.29 on Saturday in Cleveland. He broke the previous mark of :55.60 set by Wright State's Drew Fiden in 2001.  Dobies added a fourth-place swim in the 50 free (:21.82) and also swam on the 200 medley relay team.

 

Female Swimmer of the Week

 

Danielle DeGrand

UW-Green Bay

So., Green Bay, Wis.

DeGrand finished first in all six events she competed in last weekend, helping lead the Phoenix to a pair of League dual meet wins. Against UIC, DeGrand won the 200 IM (2:09.37) and the 200 back (2:10.02) and also swam a leg on the victorious 400 free relay (3:34.63). The following day at Butler, she captured the 200 free (1:54.93) and the 400 IM (4:35.56) titles and was a member of the first-place 200 medley relay squad (1:51.63).

 

Male Diver of the Week

 

Chris Dalman

Cleveland State

Sr., Auburn, Wash.

Dalman won both diving events this past Saturday.  He took the one-meter with a mark of 349.725 and the three-meter with a 364.275.  Dalman has lost just one dual diving event this season, on Nov. 21 against Ohio State.

  

Female Diver of the Week

 

Sarah Economides

UIC

Sr., Downers Grove, Ill.

Economides won the three-meter event against UW-Green Bay with a score of 230.90. She also posted a team-leading 227.55 in the one-meter event to take second-place.

 

Other Men's Top Performers for the Week

 

Alex Hill

UW-Green Bay

Fr., Lakeville, Minn.

Hill won both the 500 free (4:41.35) and the 1000 free (9:46.80) in a victory over UIC on Saturday.  In a win over Butler on Sunday, he again won the 500 freestyle (4:49.93) and was a member of the victorious 200 medley relay (1:43.07). Hill also chipped in with the second-fastest times in both the 50 free (:22.29) and the 200 free (1:46.30).

 

Blake Booher

UIC

Sr., Barrington, Ill.

Booher won two individual events and anchored the Flames to a relay victory in a Horizon League dual meet against UW-Green Bay this past Saturday. The senior continued his mastery of the 50-yard freestyle with a winning time of :20.56 before finishing the 100-yard freestyle in a victorious :46.64. Booher also helped UIC's 400 free relay squad to a convincing win with an overall time 3:06.98.   

 

Jason Brozek

Butler

Sr., Great Bend, Kan.

Brozek put together a strong performance for the men's team against UW-Green Bay on Sunday.  The senior notched the Bulldogs' only event win of the meet, swimming the 200 fly in 2:01.65.  He also scored a second-place finish in the 200 back with a 2:06.93.

 

Other Women's Top Performers for the Week

 

Marianne Lionell

Cleveland State

Sr., Sodertalje, Sweden

Lionell won the 100 breast in 1:08.69 and she placed fourth in the 100 fly on Saturday, posting a team top time of 1:01.18. It was her first time competing in the event.  Lionell also swam in the 200 medley relay, leading the Vikings to a fourth place finish.

 

Andrea Giczewski

UIC

Jr., Livonia, Mich.

Giczewski set a school record in the 100-yard freestyle with a winning time of :52.34 against UW-Green Bay on Saturday. The junior also anchored two runner-up relays for the Flames.

 

Mary Beth Arnold

Butler

Sr., Indianapolis, Ind.

Arnold was the top performer for the Butler women's team against UW-Green Bay on Sunday.  She scored the team's lone event win in the 200 breast with a time of 2:29.62.  She also added a third-place finish in the 200 fly with a time of 2:29.55.
