GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay senior guard Keifer Sykes (Chicago, Ill./Marshall) will be one of the 20 collegiate guards nationally to participate in the invitation-only CP3 Elite Guard Camp hosted by Los Angeles Clipper and NBA All-Star point guard Chris Paul. Sykes, who says he has never been to any basketball camp, will attend the camp run by one of the top point guards in the NBA from Aug. 7-10 in Paul’s hometown of Winston Salem, N.C.

The CP3 Elite Guard Camp invites the top-30 high school and top-20 collegiate guards from across the country. Sykes and the other college guards will serve as counselors and will have an opportunity to learn from and play on the court with Paul.

“I have never been invited to a camp, and I am excited to learn from Chris Paul and also have a chance to showcase my talents against great competition going into my senior season,” Sykes said. “I know how big it was for Alec [Brown] when he went to the Amare Stoudemire camp. This is a great opportunity for me, our program and mid-major basketball.”

Notable alumni of the CP3 Elite Camp include Steph Curry, Trey Burke, Michael Carter-Williams, Victor Oladipo, Kemba Walker and Ray McCallum. Others expected to attend the 2014 camp include: Connecticut’s Ryan Boatright, Wichita State’s Fred Van Fleet, Indiana’s Yogi Ferrell.

“With the invitation to the CP3 Elite Guard Camp, Keifer has an opportunity to compete against some of the best guards in the country and learn from one of the game’s top point guards,” Green Bay head coach Brian Wardle said. “I know that he will display the hard work he has put into his game this offseason and really enjoy the experience.”

The reigning Horizon League Player of the Year, Sykes is a two-time first-team All-Horizon League selection who led the Phoenix to a 24-7 overall record and the regular season conference title a season ago. In his accomplished Green Bay career, Sykes has accumulated 1,482 points and 394 assists while winning a Horizon League record 10 Horizon League Player of the Week awards.

As a junior in 2013-14, Sykes averaged 20.3 points, 4.9 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game. He was an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American and to the USBWA and NABC All-District squads while also claiming a conference record six Horizon League Player of the Week honors.
