INDIANAPOLIS – Horizon League men’s and women’s tennis debut fall schedules as nine teams are in action over the weekend.

Cleveland State Men’s Tennis | Green Bay Men’s Tennis – Western Michigan Invitational

The three-day invite will begin Friday, Sept. 13 and continue through Sunday, Sept. 15 as five teams compete at the Sorensen Courts in Kalamazoo, Mich., with the last two Horizon League champions taking part.

The Vikings are coming off of their fifth Horizon League title in program history, knocking off Green Bay, 4-3, and ended the season with a 12-12 record. The team returns six letterwinners to the squad and be head coach Brian Etzkin's 12th year with the program.

Guided by 2013 Horizon League Coach of the Year Mark Thomas, Green Bay ended its 2013 season at 17-7 overall. The Phoenix captured the first regular season conference title in program history and collected multiple Horizon League honors.

Valparaiso Men’s Tennis | UIC Men’s Tennis – River Forest Invitational

Eight teams will compete at the River Forest Invitational over two days of competition held at the River Forest Tennis Club.

The River Forest Invitational is the first of four fall meets for the Crusaders. The 2013-14 season will be head coach Jim Daugherty’s 28th year at the helm as the team welcomes four freshmen who comprised the 36th-ranked recruiting class in the nation according to Tennis Recruiting Network.

UIC concluded 2012-13 with an overall record of 6-16 and a record of 2-6 against Horizon League opponents. The team returns Alexander Raa who was named to the all-league second team last season.

Wright State Men’s Tennis – Louisville Fall Invitational

Wright State travels to Kentucky for the Louisville Fall Invitational at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Raiders will face Louisville, Eastern Michigan and Lindsey Wilson during the two days of competition. The Raiders concluded the 2013 season with a 13-13 record and head coach Sean McCaffrey posting his 100th win as the Wright State head coach and 200th overall as a head coach.

Cleveland State Women’s Tennis – Cornell Fall Invitational

The Vikings are set to compete at the Cornell Fall Invitational beginning on Friday, Sept. 13 and continue through Sunday, Sept. 15 with action taking place at the Reis Tennis Center in Ithaca, N.Y. Cleveland State will be one of six teams competing this weekend, along with Akron, Albany, Binghamton, Lehigh, and Cornell. The Vikings return five letterwinners from the 2012-13 season with two players ranking in the top-10 on the all-time singles wins list at Cleveland State.

Detroit Women’s Tennis – Toledo Rocket Invitational

Detroit will head to the University of Toledo for the two-day Rocket Invitational. The tournament begins Friday, Sept. 13 and the Titans will compete against Toledo, Duquesne and IPFW. The Titans finished last season with a 12-6 record overall and 5-2 mark in the Horizon League.

Green Bay Women’s Tennis – Cougar Fall Invitational

Green Bay travels to Chicago for the Cougar Invitational this weekend on Chicago State's campus. The tournament will be played over the duration of three-days and feature seven teams. The Phoenix welcome four newcomers to the squad in head coach Sarah Schubring’s third season.

Youngstown State Women’s Tennis – St. Bonaventure Invitational

Youngstown State competes at the St. Bonaventure Invitational for three days of competition against the Bonnies and Colgate. The tournament begins the 2013-14 season after a major turnaround year for the program. Last spring, the team advanced to the Horizon League Championship match for the second time in school history. This weekend will also mark the debut of new head coach Mickael Sopel after serving as an assistant last year.
