The Horizon League has announced players of the weeks for tennis with Youngstown State sweeping the awards as Nsimba was selected for the women and Maroscher was tabbed player of the week for the men's side.
Singles:
Noelly Longi Nsimba / Youngstown State / Junior / Montreal, Canada
Nsimba continued has now won seven matches in a row dating back to last year with a 6-3, 6-0 victory playing as the team's No. 2. The junior's point helped Youngstown State breeze past Saint Francis (PA) 6-1 in the dual improving the Penguins record to 3-1 on the year.
Mitch Maroscher / Youngstown State / Senior / Salem, Ohio
Maroscher won in straight sets playing as the No. 1 for Youngstown State. After his 6-4, 6-4 win, the senior is a perfect 4-0 in the spring season and the Penguins' 4-0 record is the best start to a year since the 2004-05 season.
Doubles:
Imaan Hassim & Sofia Macias / Youngstown State
Hassim and Macias playing as the No. 2 doubles took down Saint Francis (PA) 6-4 in their set. The pairs set helped clinch the doubles point for the Penguins in route to winning the match.
Mitch Maroscher & Thomas Rodrigues / Youngstown State
Maroscher and Rodrigues teamed together to take down Saint Francis (PA)'s No. 1 doubles team 6-3 as Youngstown State took the doubles point and eventually the match 6-1. The Penguins' are off to their second best start to a season in program history.
