Horizon League Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week

 

Brandon Gill

Butler, Sr., Indianapolis, Ind.

Gill had a solid week at the No. 1 spot in Butler's line-up. Gill started off the week with a convincing 6-2, 6-0 win over Xavier's Jeremy Miller. Gill also teamed with Parker Ross for a 9-8 win at No. 1 doubles in Butler's 6-1 win. Against Clemson Sunday, Gill paired with Ross again for an 8-4 win at the top doubles spot, as Butler claimed the doubles point over the Tigers.

 

Horizon League Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week

 

Jessica Lee

Wright State, Jr., Canton, Ohio

Lee went 3-0 in singles play over the weekend as the Raiders went 2-1.  She defeated Beth Peyton of Evansville, 6-0, 6-1 on Friday, Kerry Langworthy of Akron, 6-0, 6-2 on Saturday and Jenna Nussbaum of Bowling Green, 6-0, 4-6, 10-6, all as the number two.  She is 4-1 on the season in the number two spot.  Lee also teamed up with Karina Presti to go 2-1 in doubles play.

Aneta Maricevic                     

Detroit, Fr., Hamilton, ON

Maricevic scored an impressive 6-3, 6-4 singles win over Madina Mambetova on Saturday evening, a victory that would secure the overall match for the Titan tennis team over Eastern Illinois. The Maricevic singles win capped off a successful weekend for the Titan rookie, one in which she partnered with Ashley Cummins for a perfect record of 3-0 at the Number 2 doubles position in addition her 2-1 record at Number 2 singles.

 

Traci Litscher

UW-Milwaukee, So., Eau Claire, Wis.

Litscher won both a singles and doubles match in UWM's first team win since February of 2004. Saturday against Western Illinois, she won at #2 singles, claiming the first set 6-3 before her opponent retired with a 5-5 score in the second game. In doubles play, Litscher teamed with Margie Van Lieshout for a win at #2 doubles.

 

Tayo Bailey

Butler, Sr., Chicago, Ill.

Bailey posted a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 win over Illinois State's Emilie Sechaud Friday.

 

Eric Fey

UIC, So., St. Charles, Ill.

Fey picked up two No. 5 singles victories in three road matches over the weekend, downing Toledo's Travis Curran in a thrilling 7-6(7), 3-6, 10-6 victory on Friday and later rallying to defeat Northern Illinois' Alfonso Monroy in a 6-7(2), 6-1, 10-6 win.

 

Tim Prudlow

UW-Green Bay, So., Elm Grove, Wis.

Prudlow rallied after a first set tiebreaker loss to defeated Cleveland State's #1 singles entry Rob West, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3.
