Horizon League Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week

 

Adriano Liccardo

UIC, Fr., Oslo, Norway

Liccardo was ready to play this past Saturday, earning a convincing win over a tough Valparaiso's Joe Venegas in a 6-1, 6-1 No. 2 singles victory while helping UIC grab the doubles point with a hard-fought 8-7(4) victory with Eric Fey over Venegas and Alex Lau.

Callan Smith

UIC, Jr., Leawood, Kansas

Smith is quickly making herself comfortable at the No. 2 singles spot, as the newcomer picked up two straight-set singles victories over League foes at the second slot this past weekend. Smith defeated UW-Milwaukee's Traci Litscherby a 6-1, 6-1 mark on Saturday, then went on to take down UW-Green Bay's Jennifer Tan by the same score the following day. Smith also picked up two No. 1 doubles wins with Corey Steven.

Lance Koetter 

Wright State, So., Cincinnati, Ohio

Koetter was 2-0 against Duquesne on Sunday defeating Devon Peightal, 7-5, 6-2, in the top position and teaming with Nick Camalleri defeated Paul Clough and Rob Ojeda, 8-3, in the top doubles pairing.

 

Scott Kathary

Youngstown State, So., Dublin, Ohio

Kathary won at No. 1 singles defeating Landry Nzudie from IPFW 6-4, 6-1. He also teamed with Brian Meek earning a No. 1 victory at doubles.

 

Andy Bartish

Butler, Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio

Bartish led the Bulldogs to a 6-1 win over visiting Indiana State Friday, dropping the Sycamores' James Preston, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 4 singles spot. Bartish also teamed with Tony Aker to post an 8-6 win at the No. 2 doubles spot.

 

Tiffani Foster

Wright State, Jr., Huber Heights, Ohio

Foster went 2-0 to lead the Raiders over the Youngstown State, 4-3, on Saturday with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Whitney Thomas in the number one position and defeated Allison Day and Nicole  Haralambopoulos, 8-6, with Audra Beckett in doubles play.

 

Annie Moore               

Detroit, Fr., St. Clair, MI

Freshman Annie Moore was dominantagainst IUPUI's Jessie Ritchie in straight sets at the Number 2 flight of Sunday's match, 6-4, 6-0 to give Detroit one of its two singles points in a 5-2 loss to the Jaguars.

 

Michelle Fuleky

Youngstown State, So., Pickerington, Ohio

Fuleky won at No. 6 singles against Wright State, 6-1, 6-1; and she helped the Penguins gain the double point with her 8-2 victory at the No. 3 spot.

 

Tayo Bailey

Butler, Sr., Chicago, Ill.

Bailey went 4-0 over the weekend, as the Bulldogs opened Horizon League play with a pair of victories. Bailey posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over Jenny Tan at the No. 2 singles spot against UW-Green Bay Saturday after teaming with Shaden Dowiatt for an 8-2 win at the No. 2 doubles position. Bailey then moved to the No. 1 singles spot on Sunday, replacing an injured Alaina Griffin. Bailey downed UW-Milwaukee's top player, Margie van Lieshout, 6-2, 6-1, and teamed with Dowiatt for an 8-0 win at the No. 1 doubles spot.
