The 2010 Horizon League women's soccer season is set to begin Friday, August 20 with seven conference squads taking the field.  All nine league teams will commence action in the opening weekend facing five BCS opponents, including four Big Ten teams.

Friday's two home matches feature showdowns with the Big Ten.  Loyola welcomes Illinois for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff in a game to be carried live by horizonleague.com.  Green Bay will play host to Wisconsin for an 8 p.m. start time as the Phoenix look to upset the Badgers in Aldo Santaga Stadium.

League teams on the road include Youngstown State hosted by Robert Morris, Butler traveling to Dayton, Wright State at Central Michigan, Milwaukee journeying to Ohio State and Detroit at Michigan.   Valparaiso beings its season on Saturday with a road contest at UMKC while Cleveland State kicks off the 2010 campaign with a home match against Marshall on Sunday.

After playing the Buckeyes on Friday night, UWM will travel to South Bend, Ind., for a Sunday afternoon contest with preseason No. 4 Notre Dame.  The Panthers ranked first in the Horizon League preseason poll and have won at least a share of the last 10 regular season titles.  

The conference championship is set with first-round games on October 31 being played at campus sites.  Semifinal and final round action will be hosted by the No. 1 seed on November 5 and 7.
