Detroit, Mich. - The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their all-academic awards for the 2006 track season today (July 13). Both the men's and the women's teams were honored as well as javelin thrower Krista Switzer as an individual.

To qualify as a team, the team had to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. With a 3.19 team GPA, the men were one of only 23 teams to qualify. The women were one of 76 teams to qualify with a 3.14 GPA.

Switzer, a biology major, qualified by having a better than 3.25 GPA (3.295) and reaching the NCAA regional tournament. She won the Horizon League javelin championship with a throw of 128 feet eight inches. She then went on to finish 20th at the NCAA regional meet in Knoxville, TN.
