Chalk up another achievement for the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team as the Titans were one of 25 programs in the nation honored with the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-Scholar Team GPA Award.

It is the first time UDM has ever earned the scholastic award in its nine-year history as the Titans were 20th in the nation posting a 3.617 GPA in 2012-13. Detroit was one of just 17 Division I programs in the top 25.

The Titans won their second Horizon League title this past season with a 20-stroke victory at the league event and went on to compete in their second NCAA Regional Championship. Detroit also tied a NCAA record with nine wins on the season – when it had just nine wins in its history entering the year – and set school records for team average (310.7), 36-hole tournament (588) and a Horizon League record with a 920 at the HL Championship.

The National Golf Coaches Association honors the women's collegiate golf programs with the highest Team GPA with the NGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Award. This award is based on the average GPA for ALL of the members of the women's team for a specific year. The All-Scholar Team GPA Award is distributed to the top 25 teams at all levels – Division I, II, III, NAIA and JUCO.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 500 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
