INDIANAPOLIS -- University of Detroit Mercy sophomore Lesley Hanna, University of Illinois at Chicago junior Andy Wall, Valparaiso University senior Laura Rolf and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee junior Jamie Woods have been named Horizon League Track & Field Athletes of the Week for the period of Jan. 12-18.
Hanna, a native of Exuma, Bahamas, receives the Men's Running Events honor after winning the 200-meter (22.04) and 400-meter (48.43) on Friday at the Mike Lints Open in Allendale, Mich. He also ran a leg of Detroit's first-place 4x400 relay team (2:19.23).
Wall, a native of Peoria, Ill., picks up the Men's Field Events award. He won the triple jump (13.86 meters) and placed fifth in the high jump (1.93 meters) on Saturday at the Badger Track Classic in Madison, Wis.
Rolf, a native of Rochester, Mich., receives the Women's Running Events honor after winning the 3,000-meter (9:51.17) on Friday at the Mike Lints Open.
Woods, a native of Glendale, Wis., picks up the Women's Field Events award after winning the shot put (42 feet, 9 inches) at the Badger Track Classic. Her toss was a career best.
