âTwas the night before gameday, and all through the gym
Not a court was being used, not even a rim.
The banners were hung from the rafters with care,
In hopes that another Horizon League title would soon be there.
Players went home to study the scouting report,
With thoughts of an opponent to soon visit their court.
And coach in his office and I in my sweatpants,
Had just laid down to dream about the Big Dance.
When from my alarm there rang such a noise,
It was now time to play and show off our poise.
Away to the arena I drove on cruise,
tore open my locker, and laced up my shoes.
The spirit of our fans awaiting the game,
Gives us the energy to play for our school's name.
When what to my focused eyes should appear,
But a team of Golden Eagles in blue and gold gear.
With a Big East logo that we've all come to know,
I knew at that moment they would be a tough foe...
Hey everyone! I hope you don't mind my little poem as I pass the time between studying for finals. I just wanted to give you a quick update on our season and what's happening right NOW.
We had a great road trip this past weekend, going 2-0 in Indiana. Many of us were glad we even made it to the bus on time, because we woke up Wednesday morning with 12 inches of snow in our driveways!
We are concentrating on finals this week (well, some of us are) and facing Marquette this Saturday night at home. Which means...you will have to wait until next time to hear the end of the poem! In the meantime, Merry Christmas and God bless!
