INDIANAPOLIS -- Wright State University senior Kory Twede and Valparaiso University sophomore Bryce Shafer have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of April 20-26.

A native of Kent, Wash., Twede picks up Batter of the Week accolades after going 12-for-18 (.667) with three homers, four doubles, seven runs and 10 RBI in four games last week. He also registered a 1.389 slugging percentage and .667 on-base percentage for the Raiders.

The outfielder went 7-for-9 with three runs and eight RBI in Friday's doubleheader against the University of Illinois at Chicago, and 5-for-9 with four scores and two RBI in Sunday's twinbill vs. Valparaiso.

Twede raised his batting average from .270 to .309 during the four-game stretch. The three-roundtripper, 10-RBI week also comes after Twede collected just one long ball and 17 RBI over his first 34 contests this season.

A native of Wabash, Ind., Shafer notches Pitcher of the Week honors after picking up his Horizon League-leading sixth win in a 2-1 decision over Wright State on Sunday. He allowed just one unearned run, two walks and nine hits while striking out seven for the Crusaders.

The right-hander owns a 4-1 record and 1.51 ERA (7 ER in 41.2 IP) over his last six starts. His season ERA has dropped from 8.02 to 3.71 during the stretch.

In addition to leading the circuit in wins, Shafer ranks third in strikeouts (60), fifth in innings pitched (63.0), sixth in ERA and eighth in batting average against (.277).

Wright State improved to 21-22 overall and 9-7 in League play with a 3-1 week. The Raiders took both ends of Friday's doubleheader against UIC and split Sunday's twinbill vs. Valparaiso.

Valparaiso moved to 19-19 overall and 7-8 in conference action with a 1-2 week. The Crusaders dropped a single game to UIC on Saturday and split Sunday's doubleheader against Wright State.
