Flames Post Fourth Shutout with 2-0 Win over Green Bay
Jorge Alvarez recorded his second career multi-goal game on Sunday as the UIC men’s soccer team (4-2-1, 1-0-0 HL) claimed its fourth shutout of the year in a Horizon League-opening 2-0 victory over Green Bay (1-5-1, 0-1-0 HL) at Flames Field. Goalkeeper Andrew Putna hit a milestone as the shutout marked the 20th of his career.

It was another strong possession game for the Flames as they were able to collect 18 shots and hold the Phoenix to a mere three attempts, marking the second-consecutive game where the opponent has taken three shots or less. Men's Soccer Opens League Play with 2-0 Loss at UIC
The Green Bay men’s soccer team opened its 2015 Horizon League slate this afternoon, traveling to Chicago Ill., for a matchup with UIC at Flames Field. UIC (4-2-1, 1-0-0) controlled play for the majority of the match, working its way to a 2-0 victory over Green Bay (1-5-1, 0-1-0).

Green Bay was unable to get any solid production from its offense in the conference opener, only recording three shots in the match compared to the Flames’ 18. Read more

Setback Against Georgia Southern
The Belmont University men's soccer team (1-6-1) suffered a setback Sunday afternoon, dropping a 4-1 decision to the Georgia Southern Eagles, wrapping up competition at the Lipscomb Invitational.

Sophomore striker Rashad Hyacenth (D'Abadie, Trinidad and Tobago) scored his team-high third goal of the season in the 84th minute of the match. Hyacenth's score narrowed the deficit to 2-1. Matt Lopoyda (Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada) played an excellent cornerkick into the box where he found Hyacenth. Read more
