INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Illinois at Chicago (34-20) will travel to the College Station Regional of the 2008 NCAA Baseball Championship this weekend. The Flames earned the fourth seed in the region and will face Texas A&M (43-16) at Olsen Field on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Central.

UIC enters the NCAA tournament after it won the Horizon League championship on Sunday to successfully defend its 2007 title. The Flames became the first team since the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2001 and 2002) to win back-to-back tournament titles.

The 2008 College Station Regional also marks the first time UIC has qualified for the tournament in consecutive seasons. UIC will appear in the NCAA regional for the fourth time in six years.

The Flames, which captured the regular-season title for the seventh-consecutive season, have never faced Texas A&M in school history.

The College Station region also features second-seeded Dallas Baptist (37-17) and third-seeded Houston (39-22). Those two teams will play on Friday at 12:30 p.m.

The winning teams from Friday's action will play on Saturday at 6:30 p.m., while the losing teams will play earlier that day in an elimination game at 12:30 p.m.

Another elimination game will take place Sunday at 12:30 p.m., while the regional champion would be decided either later that day at 6:30 p.m. or the following day at 6:30 p.m.
