UIC Women and Butler Men Earn Horizon League Tennis Championship Crowns

Indianapolis, Ind. - The UIC women's tennis team defeated No. 2 Youngstown State 4-0 to claim the 2005 Horizon League Championship and will represent the League in the NCAA Tournament. Earlier in the day, the Flames downed No. 5 Wright State 4-0 in the semi-finals.

The Championship bracket could not be completed due to poor weather conditions. Rain and wind plagued the weekend, forcing play to be moved indoors. Only first and second place could be determined on both the women's and men's sides.

The Butler men's team won its fourth consecutive championship title and seventh in eight years. The Bulldogs defeated No. 3 UIC and No. 4 UW-Green Bay to earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA bracket will be announced May 4 on ESPNews.
