INDIANAPOLIS -- UIC junior Tyler Detmer and Wright State sophomore Robby Sexton have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of Mar. 17-23.

Detmer earned batter of the week honors after hitting .333 for the Flames last week as they went 2-2, including a series win over Valparaiso. He had an on-base percentage of .391 and a slugging percentage of .714 for the week. He hit two home runs on the week, including his first career grand slam versus Northern Illinois on Tuesday. He finished the week with seven hits - including four for extra bases - while scoring six runs and driving in nine more.

He is now tied for first in the Horizon League in RBIs (17) and home runs (3).

Sexton earned pitcher of the week accolades after earning the win in Wright State’s 5-2 victory over Oakland on Sunday to clinch the Raiders sweep. He pitched seven innings, allowing two runs and giving up five hits, while striking out seven. He held Golden Grizzly hitters to a .208 batting average.

Other Horizon League top performers (Mar. 17-23)
Joe Ford, Wright State (Sr., SS) - Ford hit .278 and drove in three runs and scored three more in Wright State’s four games last week. He was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored versus Cincinnati. He was 2-for-6 with a double, RBI and run scored in Friday’s win over Oakland. He was 1-for-4 with an RBI and run scored in Saturday’s win over Oakland.
Tim Koons, Oakland (Sr., RHP) – Koons struck out a team-best nine batters versus Wright State last week. He went eight innings, allowing only two runs, seven hits and walking just one batter.
Phil Lipari, Youngstown State (Sr., IF) – Lipari hit .571 last week for the Penguins. He went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored at Pittsburgh. He doubled and scored a run at Kent State.
Spencer Mahoney, Valparaiso (Jr., 1B) - Mahoney hit .444 (8-of-18) and scored seven runs last week for the Crusaders. For the season, he leads Valpo with 21 runs scored and is getting on-base at a .437 clip for the season.
Mitchell Schulewitz, UIC (Fr., RHP) - Schulewitz appeared in four of UIC’s five games last week. He finished with a 1-1 record in those appearances with a 1.12 ERA. He allowed four runs, just one earned, and six hits, while striking out eight batters.
Jared Theisen, Oakland (Sr., OF) – Theisen batted .364 in Oakland’s three-games series at Wright State. He recorded an .818 slugging percentage as three of his four hits went for extra bases (one double and two triples). He also had a team-high two stolen bases on the weekend.
Cole Webb, Valparaiso (Sr., RHP) - Webb picked up the victory over UIC on Friday night, allowing three runs in eight innings of work. He allowed just four hits and held Flames batters to a .182 hitting average, while striking out three.
Pat Wilson, Milwaukee (Sr., 1B) - Wilson went 5-for-10 with three runs scored in the two-game series at Missouri. The trip was highlighted by his first career four-hit game.
