INDIANAPOLIS -- UIC senior forward Eric Frazier (Flower Mound, Texas) has been named Horizon League Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week beginning Aug. 29.  The accolade is the first of Frazier’s career.

Frazier moved to the top of the Horizon League scoring ledger, tallying three goals in two matches as UIC went 1-0-1. The Flames’ 2-0-1 start to the year is the program’s best since 2003, when UIC got off to a 5-0 start to the season.

Taking on city rival DePaul at the Chicago Fire’s Toyota Park, Frazier supplied the offense in a 2-0 victory. His game-winning strike came in the 14th minute midway through the 18, beeting the keeper to the right side. The Texan helped seal the match in the 75th minute, converting a penalty kick to record the multi-goal effort, the lone one in the Horizon League through the first two weekends of play.

Trailing host UAB in the waning minutes, Frazier provided the equalizer in an eventual 1-1 road draw. Again Frazier beat the keeper to the lower right, knotting the match in the 86th minute. With a team-high eight shots, six on goal, Frazier was part of an effort that saw the Flames take 24 shots on the night, putting 15 on frame.

The Flames will meet Memphis on Friday, Sept. 9, with the match being played in Madison, Wis. at 6 p.m. ET. UIC returns to Flames Field on Sunday, Sept. 11, hosting UC-Irvine at 3 p.m. ET.

Leading the Bulldogs with 8 shots in the Michigan Invitational, Oleydun helped Butler to a 1-0-1 mark, good for second in the tournament.
  • Zach Ellis-Hayden, Cleveland State (So., D) - The sophomore led a Vikings defense that only gave up one goal and allowed three shots on goal in a 2-1 road win at Bowling Green. Offensively, Ellis-Hayden had one shot in the match.
