INDIANAPOLIS – UIC junior guard Shameia Green has been named Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 6.

Green received the honor after scoring a career-high 32 points at Eastern Illinois on Saturday in UIC’s only game last week.  The total is the second highest in the Horizon League this year.

The St. Louis, Mo., native recorded her second consecutive personal-best.   After scoring 24 at Illinois State two weeks ago, Green poured in 22 of her 32 points in the second half alone in Saturday’s contest.

Green went 12-for-15 from the floor, 4-for-6 from behind the arc and was a perfect 4-for-4 at the line, outscoring all players.  She also contributed six rebounds, three assists and a steal as the Flames dropped a 63-62 decision in Charleston, Ill.

UIC will return to action on Saturday, continuing a five-game non-conference stretch against Illinois schools.  The Flames will take on the Illinois Fighting Illini at 11:30am ET at Chicago’s United Center.
