INDIANAPOLIS – UIC junior Tyler Hinckley (Schaumburg, Ill.) has been named the Horizon League Men’s Runner of the Week, while Milwaukee freshman Scott Erickson (Greenfield, Wis.) has earned Horizon League Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors, for the week beginning Jan. 31.

Running the 1 mile at the Meyo Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame, Hinckley was the Horizon League’s top finisher in the event, finishing 13th out of 33 after crossing the line in 4:15.23.  The mark was a personal best for Hinckley, while ranking fourth among League runners in the mile this indoor season.

Also competing at the Meyo, Erickson took 12th in the shot put, throwing 50’10 3/4”.  The toss ranks eighth in the Milwaukee annals, while giving the freshman a new personal best.  The mark also ranks second in the Horizon League with 18 days remaining until the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships, Feb. 26-27.

UIC will be in action over the weekend at the Chicagoland Championships in Naperville, Ill., Feb. 11-12, while Milwaukee heads to Ames, Iowa, for the Iowa State Cyclone Classic Feb. 10-12.
