Indianapolis - UIC junior midfielder Baggio Husidic was named Horizon League Men's Soccer Player of the Week after posting a team-high three points over the weekend. The league office made the announcement Monday afternoon.

In the Flames' season opener Friday against UMKC, Husidic assisted on older brother Alen Husidic's goal in the 51st minute and then added an equalizer tally in the 84th minute that sent the contest into extra time. The goal came on a penalty kick after a UMKC defender committed a foul in front of UIC's goal.

For the week, Husidic, a Bosnia native, totaled three points on a goal and an assist. The contest, which ended in a 2-2 draw, was UIC's only outing of the season's opening weekend.

UIC (0-0-1) hosts Santa Clara Monday at 8 p.m. ET. Santa Clara, which dropped a 2-1 decision to Loyola over the weekend, was the top-ranked team in Top Drawer Soccer's preseason poll.
