INDIANAPOLIS -- UIC senior Jasmine Bailey is the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, for the period from Jan. 16-Jan. 22 after averaging 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in UIC’s two wins last week.
Bailey started her weekend with 19 points and 13 rebounds in the Flames 77-42 win over Butler on Thursday night. It was the senior’s eighth double-double of the season, tied for second most in the Horizon League. Two days later, Bailey scored 22 points, her ninth 20-point performance of the season, and also had six rebounds and five assists as UIC defeated Valparaiso 54-43.
For the weekend, Bailey shot 16-of-30 from the field, including 7-of-11 from three-point range.
Bailey leads the conference in scoring, averaging 19.6 points per game, ranks second in assists, averaging 4.6 per game and ranks third in rebounding, averaging 9.8 per game.
UIC (12-7, 5-3) only plays once this coming week, facing cross-town rival Loyola (9-10, 4-4) at the Rambler’s Gentile Center on Saturday with tipoff scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.

Sarah Hamm, Butler (So., C) - Hamm had a career-high 23 points against UIC and followed that performance up with 18 points in the Bulldogs’ comeback win over Loyola on Saturday.
Lydia Bauer, Green Bay (Jr., F) - Bauer averaged 15.5 points per game in Green Bay’s two wins last week. She had 12 against Cleveland State and 19 against Youngstown State. She made all 11 of her free throw attempts last week.
Shalonda Winton, Cleveland State (Jr., F) - Winton averaged 20.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in Cleveland State’s two games last week. She had double-doubles in both games and now has eight on the season.
Megan Hatter, Detroit (So., F) - Hatter tied her career-high with 16 points in Detroit’s win over Wright State. She also grabbed a career-high eight rebounds and had a career-best three steals in the game.
Simone Law, Loyola (Fr., F) -Law averaged 20.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in Loyola’s two games last week. She finished with 24 points and six rebounds in Loyola’s loss to Butler.
Kim Demmings, Wright State (Fr., G) - Demmings had 16 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in Wright State’s loss to Detroit last week.
Ashley Green, Milwaukee (Fr., F) - Green averaged 14.0 points and 7.0 rebounds last week for the Panthers. She had 13 points and nine rebounds in UWM’s win over Youngstown State.
Brandi Brown, Youngstown State (Jr., F) - Brown averaged 17.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in YSU’s two games last week. She had 21 points and 10 rebounds in the Penguins’ loss to Green Bay.
Ashley Timmerman, Valparaiso (Sr., G) - Timmerman had a team-high 14 points, including four three-pointers, in Valpo’s loss to UIC.
