Jasmine Bailey Bio
INDIANAPOLIS - University of Illinois at Chicago freshman guard Jasmine Bailey has been named Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period of Dec. 22-28. It is Bailey's first career weekly honor from the Horizon League office.
Bailey, a native of St. Louis, Mo., averaged 18.5 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 17-for-20 from the floor in UIC's two contests last week.
Bailey began the week by scoring 16 points on 8-for-10 shooting and collected nine rebounds in the Flames' loss to DePaul on Dec. 22. She then totaled 21 points on 9-for-10 shooting and added five rebounds at San Diego on Dec. 28.
The 5-foot-8 freshman is averaging 12.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game this season. Her .553 field goal percentage is second in the Horizon League (UWM's Traci Edwards, .555).
Bailey and the Flames return to action Tuesday, Dec. 30 against New Mexico State. The contest is the consolation game of the Maggie Dixon Surf `n' Slam at the University of San Diego. The game is set for 9 p.m. ET. UIC then hosts Wright State at 4:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 3.
