Dayton, Ohio - The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay came out firing in game three to complete the sweep against Wright State 30-25, 33-31, 30-19 in the final match of the first round at the Horizon League Championships. The Phoenix are currently on a five-match win streak and will face in-state rival UW-Milwaukee in the second semifinal on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
Junior Betty Slinger recorded her tenth triple-double of the season as she led the Phoenix with 13 kills, 37 assists and 12 digs. Senior Sarah Rauen finished the match with a double-double, collecting 13 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Holly Visser notched a match-high 16 kills and sophomore Megan Elfering finished with a match-high 22 digs.
The Raiders were led by junior Tara Geegan's 10 kills with a .241 hitting percentage. Freshman Lexi Leonhard paced Wright State defensively, collecting 19 digs.
The 2006 Horizon League Championships will be held Nov. 17-19 at Wright State University's C.J. McLin Gymnasium. The championship match is scheduled for Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET, with the winner earning the Horizon League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which will be begin Nov. 30 at campus sites. The 2006 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship will take place at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Nebraska, on Dec. 14 and 16.
