The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee swept the team titles at the 2007 Horizon League Indoor Track & Field Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Sunday, with both the men's and women's team holding off  Youngstown State University for the championship.

 

On the men's side, the Panthers finished with 175 points, while Youngstown State followed with 96, barely edging Butler, as the Bulldogs tallied 94 points.  Loyola finished strong on the second day of competition, totaling 76 points, while UIC finished fifth with 71, and Detroit rounded out the group with 40.

 

The UW-Milwaukee women topped Youngstown State 170-144.  Butler also took third on the women's side, posting 84 points on the day, which was slightly ahead of Loyola's 71-point total.  UIC took fifth place with 35 points, followed by Wright State's 31, and Detroit's 23.

 

UW-Milwaukee also claimed two special awards after the conclusion of the championships.  Jeremy Majors was named the men's Outstanding Runner after claiming victories in the 400 and the 800.  Quinn Mongoven also picked up honors for the Panthers by being named the men's Field Newcomer of the Year.  Mongoven won the high jump and also posted strong performances in both the triple jump and the long jump.  UW-Milwaukee head coach Pete Corfeld was also selected as both the men's and women's Coach of the Year.

 

Youngstown State was also honored with several awards.  Bethany Anderson was named the women's Outstanding Field Performer after claiming victories in the shot put and weight throw.  The women's Field Newcomer of the Year award went to Alisha Anthony as she won the long jump.  On the men's side, Joe Lahmon won the men's Outstanding Field Performer after winning the weight throw and finishing fifth in the shot put.
