Indianapolis, Ind. - UW-Milwaukee's Nick Davis and Butler's Victoria Mitchell are the annual Horizon League Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Year.
Davis, who was named the Outstanding Field Performer at the 2004 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championship, recorded League Championship records in both the javelin and high jump events. His high jump mark of 6' 10.75" was a NCAA Regional qualifying mark. Davis also placed second in the long jump and third in the triple jump to lead the Panthers to the 2004 Horizon League Outdoor Championship title.
Mitchell was an automatic qualifier in the 3000-meter steeplechase and placed eighth in the NCAA Championship. At the 2004 Horizon League Outdoor Championship, she captured the 800-meter, 1500-meter, 5000-meter and the 3000-meter steeplechase events and was named the Outstanding Runner of the Championship. The 2004 All-American currently holds Butler school records in the 1500-meter, 5000-meter and the 3000-meter steeplechase. She holds Horizon League Championship records in the 5000-meter and the 3000-meter steeplechase.
