Milwaukee, Wis. - University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee volleyball junior Leanne Felsing has been named the College Volleyball Update National Player of the Week.

Felsing led the Panthers to three wins this past week and earned Horizon League Player of the Week honors Monday. She is the second UWM player to earn the national honor from CVU.com, joining Karen Fruit, who won the award in 2004.

"This is a tremendous honor for Leanne," UWM head coach Kathy Litzau said. "She had a great week and played such an important role in our victories last week. Her performances were a great indication of just what an all-around player she is and how vital she is to the success of our team."

The junior's best performance last week came Friday night at Cleveland State, when she recorded a triple-double. That effort included 12 kills, 20 digs and 24 assists. She also hit .393 in the match while adding two aces and four blocks. It was the seventh triple-double of her career, equaling the total number of triple-doubles by every other UWM player combined since Milwaukee moved to Division I play in 1990.

Friday was far from the only strong effort this past week for Felsing. She actually came close to another triple-double Saturday against Youngstown State, collecting six digs to go with 12 kills and 21 assists. She also had 41 assists and 12 digs Wednesday in a win over Oral Roberts that snapped a 15-match winning streak by the Golden Eagles.

The Panthers, who have won seven-straight matches and stand alone in first place in the Horizon League, return to action Friday night at UW-Green Bay.
