INDIANAPOLIS -- For the second time this season, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee goalkeeper Grant Fernstrum is a member of the College Soccer News national "Team of the Week." The latest honor, announced Monday (Nov. 21), recognized the freshman's performance in helping the Panthers past Bradley University (2-0) in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night (Nov. 18).

The Green Bay, Wis., native posted his fifth consecutive shutout, extending his personal scoreless streak to 450 minutes with five saves versus the Braves. He tied a school single-season record with his tenth shutout in 15 appearances this season since taking over the starting job in early October and currently leads the nation with a 0.38 goals-against average. Fernstrum has yielded only six goals (two on penalty kicks) while registering 58 saves in 1,434 minutes of action this season. The Panthers own a 10-2-3 record with the freshman in goal.

Fernstrum also landed on the CSN squad on Oct. 12, following three consecutive shutouts. The honor marks the Horizon League's third such award from the publication, which also tabbed Panther midfielder Neil Dombrowski on Oct. 26.

The rest of the "Team of the Week" includes defenders Ben Brackett of Brown University and Matt Wieland of Creighton University, along with Seton Hall University midfielder Sascha Kljestan and Stony Brook University midfielder Tamer Mohamed. Wake Forest University's Ryan Solle and Santa Clara University's Peter Lowry round out the midfield, with Southern Methodist University freshman Paulo da Silva, the University of South Florida's Simon Schoendorf, Providence College's Eoin Lynch and the University of California-Santa Barbara's Ivan Becerra at the forward positions.

UW-Milwaukee was one of only three road teams to win in the opening round of the national summit, joining Stony Brook and Providence in that elite group. UW-Milwaukee also is one of four schools to win at least one match in each of the last four NCAA Tournaments, along with Creighton, St. John's University and UC-Santa Barbara. Five other schools (the University of California, the University of California-Los Angeles [UCLA], the University of Connecticut, Indiana University and the University of Maryland) drew first-round byes and can join that group with victories in Tuesday's (Nov. 22) second round.

Ferhstrum and his UW-Milwaukee teammates continue NCAA Tournament play Tuesday, visiting second-seeded University of New Mexico at 9 p.m. (EST). The Lobos (15-1-2) are currently ranked first in the nation by the NCAA and Soccer Times, and third by College Soccer News.
