UW-Milwaukee's Fisher, Butler's Sherman Named Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Year

Indianapolis, Ind. - Butler's Andrew Sherman has been named the annual Horizon League men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year, while UW-Milwaukee's Tenia Fisher received the honor for the second consecutive season on the women's side.

Fisher won the League Championship in the 800-meter as well as set a school record in the event (2:10.05) during the course of the season. She also broke the 400-meter record twice this year, setting the current mark of 56.47. Fisher also ran the second-fastest time in school history in the 600-meter (1:34.47), missing the school record by .48 seconds, and the sixth-fastest 200-meter time (25.75). She paced the League in both the 600-meter and the 800-meter by approximately three seconds. Fisher is a junior from Milwaukee, Wis.

Sherman won the 1000-meter at the League Championship. He also set two Butler school records in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:03.63. Sherman will end his indoor senior campaign as the only Horizon League men's NCAA provisional qualifier. He received Horizon League Athlete of the Week honors on Feb. 16 and is originally from Swindon, England.

Other women's nominees included Victoria Mitchell of Butler, Andrea Karpala of Detroit, Maureeca Lambert of Loyola and Youngstown State's Jeanna Cunningham.

Other men's nominees included Tom Grant of Detroit, Marcus Lesley of UIC, Laith Hoffarth of Loyola, Nick Gretz of UW-Milwaukee and Youngstown State's Drew Weizer.
