Freshmen Erin Kane and Sarah Teegarden of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team have been named Freshman All-Americans by Soccer Buzz, the internet publication announced today.

Kane was named to the All-Freshman Third Team, while Teegarden was a member of the honorable mention squad.

Kane posted the best season by a Milwaukee keeper in team history as just a freshman. She set school records with 13 shutouts and a 0.58 goals against average, finishing 15th in the nation in GAA and establishing a league record for shutouts. Kane started 21 games in goal, played over 2000 minutes and posted an 11-5-5 record. She also posted a shutout streak of over 714 minutes, the 14th-longest streak in NCAA Division I history.

Teegarden became a mainstay in the Panther midfield, tying for the team lead in goals and finishing tied for third in scoring. She tallied five goals and an assist for 11 points on the year. Two of her goals came as game-winners, as she proved to be the offensive catalyst from the midfield for Milwaukee.

Both Kane and Teegarden each earned all-league first team honors this season and were named league player of the week a combined four times.

Kane and Teegarden will be joined by five more starters in returning to the Panthers next season. This season, Milwaukee went 12-5-5, won its sixth-straight league regular season title, fourth league tourney and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in team history.
