Milwaukee, Wis. - The awards keep coming in for sophomore Sarah Teegarden of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The women's soccer midfielder was named to the Soccer America National Team of the Week on Wednesday (Oct. 25) afternoon after garnering the same honor from Soccer Buzz earlier in the day.

Teegarden is just the second Panther ever to earn the honor from Soccer America, following Ginny Graczyk in 2003. In addition to her national team of the week nods, she was also named the Horizon League's Player of the Week Monday.

Milwaukee went 2-0 last week behind Teegarden game-winners in matches against Detroit and Wisconsin. Friday, she provided all the scoring in a 1-0 win over Detroit, giving UWM a perfect 7-0 league mark and home field advantage for the league tournament. Then, she scored the game's lone goal against Wisconsin Sunday, helping the Panthers to just their second win over UW ever.

She has now scored the game-winner in three-straight games, the first Panther ever to do so. Teegarden also tied the school record for winners in a season with five and pushed her career total to seven, tied for third-best in team history.

Teegarden and the top-seeded Panthers open the 2006 Horizon League Tournament this weekend, hosting a quarterfinal match Saturday at 4 p.m. at Engelmann Field. Milwaukee will play the loser of Wednesday's league regular season finale between Youngstown State and Cleveland State. Both teams sit at 0-6 in league play and are vying for the seventh seed.
