Valparaiso and Loyola sweep men's and women's weekly outdoor honors

INDIANAPOLIS – Valparaiso’s sophomore Wally Bradford (Mukwonago, Wis.) has earned the Horizon League Men’s Track Athlete of the Week honors, while freshman Sarah Drozdowski (Roselle, Ill.) was awarded the Women’s Field Athlete of the week honors. Loyola juniors Oliver Daddario (Gloucester, Mass.) and Nicole Noelliste (Littleton, Colo.) earned Horizon League Men’s Field Athlete of the Week and Women’s Track Athlete of the Week awards, respectively.

Competing at the Polar Bear Invitational on Saturday, Bradford won the 1500 meter finishing in a time of 4:18.09. He also competed in the 800 meter where he placed fifth out of 23 competitors, which currently places him second in the League.

Drozdowski finished the weekend marking a third-best throw in the shotput and fourth-best mark in the hammer throw in Crusader history. She currently leads the League in the shot put with her throw of 12.10 meters on Saturday. The junior also competed in the hammer and discus throw where she placed fourth out of 24 and 10th out of 24, respectively.

Daddario competed at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invite on Saturday where he set a new school record in the javelin with a throw of 47.52 meters. His throw was good for sixth place out of 15 participants and is currently leading the League.

Competing in the Victor Lopez Invite, Noelliste competed in the 400 meter where she placed ninth out of 43 participants and the 400 meter hurdles where she placed second out of seven participants. Recording a 57.20 in the 400 meter and 1:01.17 in the hurdles she currently leads the League in both races and moved into a tie for second-place on Loyola’s all-time record in both events.

Both Valpariaso and Loyola will be back in action at the Mike Poehlein Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. on Friday and Saturday with a start time of 3pm(EST) Friday and 10am(EST) Saturday.
