INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Valparaiso junior Jenny Pokorny has been named Horizon League Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Milwaukee junior Morgan Potter has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period of Oct. 11-17.
Pokorny, a setter from Geneva, Ill., picks up her second award this season after recording her second career triple-double on Saturday with 11 kills, 36 assists, and 10 digs in a 3-1 victory at Wright State. She notched career highs for kills, attacks (26) and blocks (5) against the Raiders. The junior also recorded 30 assists and seven digs the night before at Butler, tallying 66 assists (9.43 assists per set) on the weekend.
Potter, a libero from Stoughton, Wis., recorded 50 digs (6.25 dps) for the Panthers this week en route to her second weekly accolade. She tallied 39 digs in a 3-2 win against Green Bay on Friday; good for third-most in a single match in Milwaukee history. Potter added 11 more digs in a sweep of SIU-Edwardsville on Saturday, limiting opponents to a combined .049 hitting percentage. The libero also registered three assists and one ace for the week.
Valparaiso returns to action on Tuesday in a non-conference match at Oakland at 7pm ET. Milwaukee hosts Youngstown State on Friday in an 8pm ET match.
