INDIANAPOLIS – Valparaiso sophomore Kyle Henning has been named Horizon League Men’s Golfer of the Week, while fellow Valparaiso sophomore Erika Pfaender has been named Horizon League Women’s Golfer of the Week for the period from March 28-April 3.
Henning finished in a tie-for-18th place out of 87 golfers at the Beu Mussatto Invitational played at the Harry Mussatto Golf Course in Macomb, Ill. He fired an opening round three-over-par 75 and a second round score of 77 before shooting a final round even-par 72 to finish with a three-day score of 224.
The Valparaiso men’s golf team returns to action on April 14 when it plays in the Wolfpack Spring Open in Raleigh, N.C.
Pfaender won the Women’s Golfer of the Week award after finishing in third place out of 64 competitors at the IPFW Fall Classic played at the Pine Valley C.C. in Fort Wayne, Ind. She shot an opening round 80 and a final round 79 to finish one shot out of the playoff. It was her best finish of the season and she was the top performing Horizon League player in the field.
Valparaiso’s women’s golf team is next in action on April 14 when it plays in the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
