Valparaiso men's golf senior Kyle Henning was named a First Team Academic All-District V At Large honoree by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and is now up for Academic All-American consideration after the conclusion of a stellar career both on the links and in the classroom.
In competition, Henning earned All-League honors for the second straight season after setting a new Valpo single-season record with a stroke average of 74.52, sixth-best among league golfers. The senior also ended his career with the Crusaders' best career scoring average (75.43). Henning posted six rounds of par or better on the season, including a pair of 68s. He finished fifth at the Quail Valley Intercollegiate and earned a tenth-place finish in a strong field at Kentucky's Bluegrass Invitational.
In the classroom, Henning entered his final semester at Valparaiso with a 3.82 cumulative grade point average as a civil engineering major. Last summer, he was named a GCAA (Golf Coaches Association of America) All-America Scholar, and has twice been named an Academic All-Horizon League honoree. Henning has been a member of the league's Academic Honor Roll each semester eligible, and earned Presidential academic honors in each of his last three years at Valpo.
CoSIDA Academic All-American honors will be announced in the first week of June.
