INDIANAPOLIS -- Valparaiso sophomore Josh Kalita has been named Horizon League Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Detroit senior Alainna Stefan earns Women’s Golfer of the Week accolades for the period of March 31-April 5.

Kalita tied for 18th out of 67 individuals at the Big Blue Intercollegiate tournament in Spring Hill, Tenn.  The Crusaders tied for ninth in the 12-team event.

Kalita, a native of Chesterton, Ind., shot a 76 in the opening round and a 75 in the second, finishing with his lowest 36-hole tournament score of the season.

Kalita shared the team low tournament score with teammate Kyle Henning who also shot a 151.

Stefan earned her second honor of the season on the women’s side after tying runner-up at the IPFW Spring Classic, helping the Titans to a first place finish.

Stefan, a native of Dearborn, Mich., improved her first-round score by eight strokes carding a tournament best four-over 75 on the final 18.  This was her fifth top-10 finish of the year.

Kalita and Stefan will become eligible for next week’s Horizon League Network's "People's Choice" award, which is announced each Thursday afternoon.  Log on to www.HorizonLeague.com to vote.

Valparaiso men will play in the UK Bluegrass Invitational on April 9, while Detroit women will return to the links for the Adidas Hoosier Invitational.
