INDIANAPOLIS - Valparaiso University senior guard Agnieszka Kulaga has been named Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period of Nov. 24-30. It is Kulaga's fourth career weekly honor from the Horizon League office.
Kulaga (pronounced Koo-WAH-guh), a native of Tarnow, Poland, was named MVP of the Rocky Mountain Invitational over the weekend, averaging 22.0 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 58.3 percent (21-for-36) from the floor. Her efforts led Valpo to a pair of wins and the tournament title. She also knocked down 37.5 percent (6-for-16) of her 3-point attempts while converting 18-of-20 at the free throw line during the three games.
The 5-foot-6 guard scored 20 points to lead Valparaiso to a 64-53 win in the tournament's opener at Colorado State on Friday. She added 22 points and six rebounds while playing all 40 minutes in an 80-74 victory over Florida State in Saturday's championship game.
Kulaga opened the week by scoring 24 points on 9-for-14 shooting in an 86-80 overtime loss at Central Michigan last Tuesday.
For the season, Kulaga is leading the Horizon League with 22.0 points per game. She ranks second in the Horizon League with a .600 field goal percentage, while also appearing among the League leaders in 3-pointers made per game (5th, 2.3), 3-point percentage (6th, .429) and free throw percentage (6th, .864).
