Valparaiso's Sivak and Green Bay's Pogue earn weekly honors

INDIANAPOLIS –Valparaiso’s David Sivak is the Horizon League Men’s Swimmer of the Week and Green Bay’s Daniel Pogue is the Men’s Diver of the Week for Jan. 18-24.

Sivak, a senior from Hobart, Ind., has earned his first award for swimmer of the week, winning five out of six events he competed in last weekend. He set two school records competing at the Butler Invitational on Sunday (Jan. 23). In the 100 Backstroke he finished in a time of 51.98 and broke the 400 Individual Medley time by more than three seconds, with a time of 4:09.21. He also competed in the 50 Free (21.15), 100 Fly (52.32) and 100 Breast (59.02) in other meets throughout the weekend.

Pogue, a junior from Chisholm, Minn., has earned his fifth diver of the week award for the season, earning a personal best score of 340.05 in the three-meter dive on Saturday (Jan. 22) against Wisconsin. His score was the highest score ever recorded at Green Bay’s Dorschel Natatorium. He also earned a 281.48 in the one-meter dive against Wisconsin, along with a 291.08 and a 308.40 in the three-meter dive against Western Illinois on Friday (Jan. 21).

Valparaiso and Green Bay will return to action on Jan. 29. Valparaiso will host IUPUI, while Green Bay hosts Illinois Institute of Technology, both with a 5pm (EST) start.
