INDIANAPOLIS -- Valparaiso and Loyola combined to put 11 players in double figures on Thursday night, as each team cruised to wins. Valpo took down Purdue-North Central, 98-44, at the Athletics-Recreation Center, while Loyola downed Eastern Illinois, 73-62, at the Gentile Center.
The Crusaders nearly topped 100 points for the second time in three games, getting contributions from nearly every player who stepped on the court in a 98-44 win over Purdue-North Central. Seven of the 10 Valpo players who stepped on the court wound up with 10 or more points, led by Ryan Broekhoff's 18. Kevin Van Wijk added 17 and Brandon Wood 16 for the Crusaders, who shot 67.9-percent for the game.
Loyola (4-0) won its fourth straight game to start the year, putting four players in double figures in a 73-62 win over Eastern Illinois. Jordan Hicks led the Ramblers with 16 points, while Terrance Hill added 13. Walt Gibler and Geoff McCammon each chipped in 11, as Loyola put at least four players into double figures for the fourth consecutive game.
The 4-0 start is the best for Loyola since posting the same four-game record in the 2005-06 season.
