INDIANAPOLIS -- Valparaiso senior Chris DeBoo (Chula Vista, Calif.) has been named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week while fellow Crusaders senior John Loeffler (Burnsville, Minn.) and Milwaukee junior Sam Koenig (Prairie du Sac, Wis.) are the Co-Hitters of the Week.
It is the first honor of the season for all three players.
DeBoo made one start during Valpo's three-game sweep of visiting Wright State, allowing just one unearned run in 7.0 innings pitched. The right-hander allowed a .222 batting average against while improving to 2-1 in Horizon League action.
Loeffler batted .636 (7-for-11) in the sweep of the Raiders, adding seven RBI and a pair of runs scored. The first baseman collected two doubles, two walks and a sac fly while improving his season batting average from .273 to .302 during the three-game span.
Koenig batted .500 (7-for-14) during Milwaukee's 5-0 week that included a sweep of UIC and a non-conference victory over Northwestern at Miller Park, home of the Milwaukee Brewers. The third baseman walked twice, stole a pair of bases and racked up three doubles while scoring five runs and driving in six. In Saturday's 9-3 win over the Flames, Koenig went 4-for-4 with three RBI.
The Panthers and Crusaders will face off this weekend as Milwaukee travels to Valparaiso for a three-game Horizon League series.
