INDIANAPOLIS -- Valparaiso junior midfielder Rachel Hoaglin (Lakeville, Minn.) has been named Horizon League Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week beginning Sept. 12.  The honor is the first of Hoaglin’s career.

With two game-winning goals, Hoaglin led Valparaiso (5-3-1, 1-0 Horizon) to a 2-0 week, including the first victory in a Horizon League opener for the Crusaders since joining the conference. Valpo opened the weekend by knocking off Green Bay, 1-0, before traveling to Bowling Green and routing the Falcons, 4-0.

Against the Phoenix, Hoaglin chipped the ball over the keeper from the right corner of the six-yard box to tally her fourth goal of the season. The goal moved the junior into a tie for eighth all-time in Crusaders history.

Less than 48 hours later, Hoaglin crept up the goals list again, moving into a tie for seventh with a goal in the ninth minute against Bowling Green. The tally gave Hoaglin a goal in four straight contests for the Crusaders, who are 3-0-1 over that stretch.

Valparaiso will resume non-conference play this weekend, hosting the Crusader Classic at both Brown Field and Eastgate Field. On Friday, Sept. 23, the Crusaders will take on Campbell at 8:30 p.m. ET on Brown Field, before meeting Air Force on Sept. 25 at 2:30 p.m. ET on Eastgate Field. Friday’s match will be available on the Horizon League Network at HorizonLeague.com.
