The Cleveland State volleyball team will open up play in the 2015 NCAA Championship with a first round contest at top-seeded USC on Thursday, December 3 at 10:30 p.m. EST. The Vikings will be playing as part of the San Diego Regional.
The field for the 2015 NCAA Volleyball Championship was announced Sunday evening on ESPNU.
This will be Cleveland State's third appearance in the NCAA Championship – all of which have come under current head coach Chuck Voss. The Vikings also played in the NCAA tournament in 2007 and 2012.
This will be just the second meeting between Cleveland State and USC in program history, with USC coming away with a win during the 1984 season.
The Vikings enter the First Round of the NCAA Championship with a 26-6 record - which ties the program record for wins in a season during Voss' tenure. For the second time in program history, Cleveland State won both the Horizon League Regular Season and Tournament Titles this year.
USC enters the NCAA Championship as the top seed in the 64-team field, owning a 30-2 overall record this season. The Trojans earned a share of the Pac-12 championship earlier this season – their fifth Pac-12 crown in program history.
Northern Arizona and San Diego will meet in the other first round match at USC, with the two winners advancing to play a second round contest on Friday (Dec. 4).
