Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week



Melissa David

UW-Milwaukee, Junior, OH, Savoy, Ill.

David had a career-day on Saturday against Wright State, posting 21 kills while hitting .700 for the match. She was also one of three Panthers to record double-digit kills in a win over Butler on Friday with 10. For the week, David averaged 5.17 kills per game while hitting .338.



Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week



Megan Knightly

Butler, Senior, Libero, Chicago, Ill.

Knightly moved into third place on Butler's career digs list with 52 digs in two weekend matches. She recorded a match-high 31 digs in the team's five-game win over UW-Green Bay on Saturday, giving her double-figure digs in 52 of her last 53 matches. Knightly also leads the Horizon League in digs per game with 5.44.

Candice Washington

Butler, MB, Sr., Chicago, Ill.

Washington celebrated her home finale with a season-high 16 kills in the team's five game win over UW-Green Bay saturday. She hit .412 in the match and added six blocks. On the season, Washington leads the Bulldogs with a .259 hitting percentage and 1.20 blocks per game.



Sarah Elmer

Loyola, S, Jr., Fort. Wayne, Ind.

Elmer recorded the first triple-double of her career, firing four service aces and handing out 50 assists to go with career-highs of 14 kills and 22 digs as Loyola got back on the winning track with a five-game win over Illinois-Chicago on Friday night. Her 14 kills came on a .414 (14-2-29) efficiency as she guided the Ramblers to a .245 hitting percentage as a team.



Jackie Rosen

UW-Green Bay, OH, Sr., West Allis, Wis.

Rosen kept her double-digit kills streak alive with 18 versus Wright State and 26 at Butler. She has recorded double-digit kills in 31 straight matches, while leading the Horizon League with 4.77 per game.



Danielle Siefker

Cleveland State, MH, Jr., Kalida, Ohio

Siefker turned in a pair of consistent efforts for the Vikings last week, including 11 kills and six blocks on Tuesday against Bowling Green and 12 kills on a .500 hitting percentage in a sweep of Youngstown State on Friday. For the week, Siefker averaged .329 kills and 1.71 blocks per game.



Katie Kozak

UIC, S, Jr., Orland Park, Ill.

Kozak recorded career-highs in kills (nine) and digs (23) plus 44 assists in UIC's loss to Loyola on Friday. She also tallied 46 assists in a loss to Bradley last Tuesday.



Abby Ettenhofer

Youngstown State, MH, Sr., Hebron, Ohio

Ettenhofer led the Penguins with 13 kills, a .423 hitting percentage and four blocks in YSU's loss to Cleveland State. She leads the team with a .301 hitting percentage overall and leads the squad with 3.00 kills per game against Horizon League opponents.



Sarah Poling

Wright State, OH, Jr. St. Henry, Ohio

Poling posted a double-double of 13 kills and 19 digs in the Raiders five-game win over UW-Green Bay, plus a double-double of 16 kills and 11 digs versus UW-Milwaukee.



Amanda Cindric

Youngstown State, DS, Jr., Pittsburgh, PA

Cindric led the Penguins with 13 digs in their lone match over the weekend. For the season, Cindric is averaging 4.08 digs per game and needs just nine more to reach the 800 digs plateau for her career.



Alisa Hatcher

Cleveland State, L, Sr., Bellefontaine, Ohio

Hatcher led the Vikings in two matches last week, posting a match-high 22 digs in a loss to Bowling Green and 19 in a sweep of Youngstown State. For the week, she averaged 5.86 digs per game.



Leanne Felsing

UW-Milwaukee, OH, So., Elm Grove, Wis.

Felsing averaged 6.50 digs per game over the weekend, including 24 in a three-game sweep of Butler on Friday and 15 in a win at Wright State. She also averaged 3.00 kills per game and tallied six service aces as UW-Milwaukee extended its win streak to 10 matches.



Maura McCarthy

UIC, OH, Jr., Chicago, Ill.

McCarthy tallied 26 digs over the weekend, including 12 versus non-League foe Bradley and 14 in a five-game loss to Loyola. She is averaging 2.54 digs per game on the year.



Sarah Rauen

UW-Green Bay, L, Jr., Stacy, Minn.

Rauen notched 12 digs at Wright State on Friday and followed up with a team-best 29 digs at Butler on Saturday. For the season, she is averaging 4.51 digs per game, good for third in the Horizon League.



Taylor Gerlach

Wright State, L, Jr., Wheaton, Ill.

Gerlach averaged 3.00 digs per game in two matches over the weekend, including 16 in a five-game win over UW-Green Bay. For the season, Gerlach is averaging 4.48 digs per game, good for fourth in the Horizon League.



Hatcher moves closer to career milestone; Vikings continue League win streak

Senior libero Alisa Hatcher stands just 12 digs shy of becoming the ninth player in Cleveland State history with 1,000 career digs. She has 341 digs on the year and needs 78 more to break the season record of 418 set by Elisa Caraulia in 1998. With a win in their lone League match over the weekend, the Vikings stretched their streak of League victories to six. That streak and the overall eight League victories are tops in the Vikings tenure in the Horizon League.



Kozak edges her way up career assists list; Flames remain in third place

Junior setter Katie Kozak tallied 90 assists over the weekend to bring her season total to 1,125. For her career, Kozak has racked up 2,912 assists, only 88 away from becoming the fifth player to reach 3,000 for her career. After sitting atop the League standings for first four weekend of League play, UIC begins its second week in third place at 6-4. The Flames are 2.5 matches behind League-leading UW-Milwaukee with four League matches to go.



Peters sets sights on single season record; Panthers set season-highs in kills, digs

Freshman Becky Peters tallied 32 digs over the weekend, bringing her season total to 418, well within striking distance of UW-Milwaukee's single season record. Laura Dallenbach holds the mark with a 445 dig season in 1998. The Panthers set season-highs with a total of 82 digs in a three-game match in a sweep of Butler Friday night and a total of 68 kills in a three-game match in a win over Wright State on Saturday. With the two victories, the Panthers extended their win streak to 10 matches.



Knightly, Washington move up career charts; Bulldogs finish season on the road

Senior Megan Knightly moved into third place on the Butler career digs list after a 52-dig weekend performance. She now has 1,654 digs in her four year career. Senior Candice Washington moved into eighth place on the school's career block list with 342 for her career. The Bulldogs finish up the season on the road with trips to UIC and Loyola this weekend and a visit to Wright State on the final weekend of the regular season.



Ramblers earn victory in first five-game match of the season; Davis, Henriksen tally career-highs in weekend win

Loyola's 3-2 win over UIC Friday night marked the first five-game match of the season for the Ramblers. Loyola had gone 22 straight matches without going to a deciding fifth game. In that win, freshman Audrey Davis and sophomore Shelby Henriksen posted career-highs with 16 and 13 kills respectively.



Pasquinelli posts seventh straight double-double, passes another career plateau

Senior setter Angie Pasquinelli recorded her seventh straight double-double with 36 assists and 11 digs in a loss to Cleveland State on Friday. Pasquinelli, who ranks second on YSU's career assists lsit with 3,766, also passed the 800-dig plateau for her career (801) in the loss.



Raiders end streak with 3-2 win over Phoenix

Wright State ended a seven-match losing streak to UW-Green Bay with a 3-2 win on Friday. The match marked the eighth consecutive five-game meeting between the two teams.



Phoenix travels to Ohio as season winds down

UW-Green Bay will travel to Ohio to face Cleveland State (Friday) and Youngstown State (Saturday) in the second to last weekend of the season.



Butler's Knightly, UW-Green Bay's Rosen among tops in NCAA; Youngstown State team defense continues to dominate

Butler libero Megan Knightly and UW-Green Bay outside hitter Jackie Rosen are among the tops in the NCAA in digs and kills per game, respectively, according to statistics released by the NCAA on Tuesday, October 25.



Knightly is currently ranked 24th in Division I with a 5.32 digs per game average. This marks the fourth time this season and the third week in a row that Knightly has been among the top 30. Debora Seilhamer of Southern California leads all players with a 6.37 dpg average.



Rosen's 4.81 kills-per-game average ranks her 23rd in Division I. Rosen was previously ranked 30th with a 4.80 kpg average for the week of Sept. 11. Rosen has averaged 5.28 kills per game in League matches this season.



Youngstown State also continues its defensive dominance as it is ranked 27th in the nation with a 17.82 team digs per game average. The Penguins have been ranked every week of the season, reaching as high as fourth with a 19.50 dpg average for the week of Sept. 11.



Regular season begins to wind down; teams inch closer to Horizon League Championship

With only two weekends left of regular-season play, the race for the regular season title and No. 1 seed at the Horizon League championship is heating up.



The Horizon League Championship, hosted by UIC, will be held Nov. 17-20 at the Flames Center in Chicago, Ill. Match one will begin on Nov. 17 at 5 p.m., pitting the No. 5 seed against the No. 8 seed. A match between seeds 6 and 7 will follow at 7:30 p.m.



The second round of action begins on Nov. 18 at 5 p.m. as the winner of match one takes on the No. 3 seed. The winner of match two will battle the No. 4 at 7:30 p.m.



Semifinal action takes place on Saturday, Nov. 19, beginning at 2 p.m. as the No. 1 seed squares off against the match four winner. The second game of the afternoon will feature the No. 2 seed and the winner of match three.



The championship match is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20. The tournament champions received an automatic berth into the NCAA Championships.



After finishing last year's regular season at 10-4, Loyola defeated UW-Green Bay, Butler and Cleveland State to win the 2004 Horizon League Championships. The Ramblers advanced to the NCAA Championships where they suffered a first-round loss to Wisconsin.



The regular season champion has not won the Horizon League Championship tournament since 2000, when Loyola swept both honors.
