BUTLER BULLDOGS (6-1, 0-0)

  • At 6-1, Butler is off to its best start since 1997 when the team began the year 11-0.
  • Butler claimed its second regular-season tournament title in as many years over the weekend, scoring victories over Austin Peay, Loyola (Md.) and Kennesaw State en route to the Owls Challenge crown.
  • Junior Porshia Allen was named Most Valuable Player of the Owls Challenge, while senior Dana Daprile and sophomore Jessica Wolfe were also selected to the all-tourney team.

    CLEVELAND STATE VIKINGS (1-5, 0-0)
  • Cleveland State went 0-3 at the Dayton Flyer Invitational over the weekend, marking the first time since 1999 that the Vikings went winless at a non-conference tourney.
  • Senior Jordan Bateman moved into second place on the career digs list at CSU over the weekend. With 1,145 career digs, she is 261 shy of breaking the school record.

    GREEN BAY PHOENIX (3-4, 0-0)
  • Green Bay has two players, junior Nikki Hintze and junior Holly Visser, with more than 100 points through just seven matches this season.

    LOYOLA RAMBLERS (7-0, 0-0)
  • At 7-0, Loyola is off to its best start since 1995 when the team began the year 10-0.
  • Loyola won 15 sets while losing just one last week. The Ramblers only blemish was a 25-21 setback in game three against Evansville.
  • Senior Sarah Singer was named Most Valuable Player of the Loyola Invitational, while sophomore Katie Johnson and junior Lauren Ditscheit were also selected to the all-tourney team.

    MILWAUKEE PANTHERS (4-2, 0-0)
  • Milwaukee claimed its third regular-season tournament title in as many years over the weekend, scoring victories over Bradley, Eastern Michigan and SIU-Edwardsville en route to the Wyndham Invitational title.
  • Senior Becky Peters was named Most Valuable Player of the Wyndham Invitational, while junior Lauren Felsing and sophomore Maddie Sueppel were also selected to the all-tourney team.
  • The Panthers have won 15 of their last 17 matches away from Milwaukee.

    UIC FLAMES (2-3, 0-0)
  • UIC picked up its first sweep of the season over North Dakota State on Friday.

    VALPARAISO CRUSADERS (5-1, 0-0)
  • Valparaiso has now defeated the teams projected to finish first (Louisville) and fourth (Notre Dame) in the Big East.
  • Valparaiso defeated another BCS-conference team on Saturday (Wake Forest).
  • The Crusaders posted decisive edges in kills over both Louisville (68-50) and Wake Forest (76-43). VU owns an advantage of almost three kills per set over its opponents (11.93-9.14) this season.

    WRIGHT STATE RAIDERS (1-5, 0-0)
  • Wright State picked up its first win of the campaign on Saturday -- a 3-1 decision over Buffalo.
  • Sophomore Shaundra Sandifer was named to the University of Albany Classic All-Tournament Team. She is tied for third in the Horizon League with an average of one block per set.

    YOUNGSTOWN STATE PENGUINS (4-2, 0-0)
  • Youngstown State knocked off Norfolk State, Howard and Charlotte en route to the Comfort Suites 49er Tournament title over the weekend.
  • Senior Ebony Barbosa was named the MVP of the 49er Tournament, while senior Karla Everhart and sophomore Haley Kapferer were also members of the all-tourney team.
  • Youngstown State will play three matches at Robert Morris this weekend. YSU head coach Joe Bonner spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the Colonials, and all three teams qualified for the NCAA Tournament (2000-02).
