BUTLER BULLDOGS (10-1, 0-0)

  • At 10-1, Butler is off to its best 11-match start since 1997.
  • Butler owns a nine-match winning streak -- also its longest since 1997.
  • The Bulldogs claimed their second regular season tournament title in as many weeks by defeating Maryland-Eastern Shore, Maine and Buffalo at the Buffalo Ramada Invitational last weekend.
  • Junior Porshia Allen has been named MVP of both non-conference tournaments this year -- the Buffalo Ramada Invitational (Sept. 12-13) and Kennesaw State Owls Challenge (Sept. 5-6).

    CLEVELAND STATE VIKINGS (1-8, 0-0)
  • Cleveland State has lost six straight matches -- its longest skid since losing seven in a row Oct. 5-20, 2001.
  • After opening the campaign with nine straight road matches, the Vikings will finally play their first home matches of 2008 this weekend when Loyola and UIC come to Woodling Gym.

    GREEN BAY PHOENIX (4-6, 0-0)
  • Senior Megan Elfering owns a Horizon League-best 227 digs this season. She collected a league-high 71 over 13 games (5.46 pg) last week.
  • The Phoenix owns a Horizon League-high 686 digs this season. UWGB registered 230 over 13 games (17.69 pg) last week.

    LOYOLA RAMBLERS (9-2, 0-0)
  • Senior Sarah Singer and junior Lauren Ditscheit were selected to the Northern Illinois Invitational All-Tournament team -- their second such honor this season. Singer managed 50 kills and 29 digs in 16 games, while Ditscheit recorded 99 assists, 31 digs and 10 service aces.
  • Sophomore Katie Johnson notched her first collegiate double-double with 13 kills and a career-high 14 digs in the sweep of Bradley before racking up a career-high 17 kills against Towson.

    MILWAUKEE PANTHERS (6-3, 0-0)
  • Senior Becky Peters is just eight digs away from passing Laura Dallenbach as Milwaukee's all-time leader. Peters has 1,593 digs, while Dallenbach sits atop the charts at 1,600 digs.
  • The Panthers improved their play at the net in weekend No. 2. UWM averaged 1.46 blocks per set during the first weekend before bouncing that up to 2.38 blocks per set during the second weekend.
  • Milwaukee's win over Connecticut on Friday marked its fifth-straight over a team from the Big East.

    UIC FLAMES (3-6, 0-0)
  • Junior Lana Lobdell was named to the Chicago Classic at Mother McAuley All-Tournament team after totaling 24 kills, four service aces, four blocks and a .258 attack percentage in three matches.
  • The Flames totaled over 20 kills in 11 sets last week.

    VALPARAISO CRUSADERS (7-2, 0-0)
  • Senior Brittany Malicoat was recently featured on ESPN.com in a story about her husband, Bobby, being deployed in Iraq.
  • Junior Angie Porche moved into fourth on Valparaiso's career kills chart over the weekend. She now has 1,235.

    WRIGHT STATE RAIDERS (2-8, 0-0)
  • Wright State went 1-3 last week, falling at Eastern Michigan on Tuesday before going 1-2 in hosting the Raider Challenge. The Raiders had the lead against both Morehead State and Florida State, but fell to the Eagles in four sets and the Seminoles in five. In between, WSU defeated Niagara in four.
  • Senior Lizzy Gunn was named to the Raider Challenge All-Tourney team after recording 28 kills and 15 blocks in three matches.

    YOUNGSTOWN STATE PENGUINS (7-3, 0-0)
  • At 7-3, the Penguins are off to their best 10-match start since 2005.
  • Junior Ruth Boscaljon and senior Ebony Barbosa both reached the 800-kill plateau over the weekend.
  • Although Youngstown State has eight fewer kills (423-431) than its opponents through the first three weeks of the season, its attack percentage is 54 points higher (.240-.186). The Penguins have had 51 fewer miscues (161-212) than their opponents to this point.
