BUTLER BULLDOGS (14-3, 4-1)

  • At 14-3, Butler is off to its best 17-match start since 1997. That season, the Bulldogs began the year 15-2.
  • Butler improved to 16-0 all-time against Youngstown State with a five-set victory on Friday night.
  • Butler notched a season-high 73 kills and season-best 101 digs vs. Youngstown State.
  • The Bulldogs lead the Horizon League with 2.45 blocks per set.

    CLEVELAND STATE VIKINGS (2-12, 1-4)
  • Senior Jordan Bateman had 50 digs in two matches over the weekend and is now 126 digs shy of the school record (1,406).
  • Cleveland State will play three matches at home this week after opening the season with 12 of its first 14 on the road.

    GREEN BAY PHOENIX (8-8, 4-2)
  • Senior Megan Elfering (1,583 digs) became Green Bay's all-time digs leader on Tuesday night against UIC.
  • Green Bay snapped its nine-match losing streak to Milwaukee on Saturday evening. The last Phoenix victory over the Panthers came in the championship match of the 2003 Horizon League Tournament.
  • Green Bay has already surpassed its 2007 win total of six.

    LOYOLA RAMBLERS (13-4, 3-2)
  • Three Ramblers -- sophomore Katie Johnson (15), senior Sarah Singer (14) and junior Dana VanDiggelen (12) -- reached the double-figure kill plateau in Friday night's win over Wright State. For the season, Johnson has led LU in kills six times with Singer and VanDiggelen doing so on five occasions each.
  • Seven of Loyola's first eight Horizon League matches are on the road. The Ramblers are currently 3-2 during the stretch.

    MILWAUKEE PANTHERS (10-5, 3-1)
  • Milwaukee fell to Green Bay on Friday evening after winning the first set. The Panthers had not previously lost a match after winning the first set since the beginning of the 2006 season -- a stretch of 49 matches.
  • Friday night's loss at Green Bay was only Milwaukee's third against the Phoenix in the last 32 head-to-head meetings.
  • Friday night's loss was just the second for Milwaukee head coach Susie Johnson in 20 regular-season league matches.

    UIC FLAMES (6-10, 1-4)
  • UIC notched a three-set sweep of Quinnipiac on Sunday afternoon. The win included a convincing 25-7 decision in game three.
  • Three Flames -- sophomore Casie Sullivan, junior Katerina Hanackova and senior Katarina Nedeljkovic -- picked up double-doubles on Saturday evening against Wright State.

    VALPARAISO CRUSADERS (10-5, 2-3)
  • Valparaiso ranks fourth in the nation with 14.98 kills per set and fourth with 13.85 assists per set.
  • Junior Angie Porche ranks fifth in the nation with 4.69 kills per set. Senior Brittany Malicoat places 14th with 5.08 digs per set.
  • Valparaiso opened its home slate by knocking off Cleveland State and Youngstown State over the weekend. Friday night was the Crusaders' latest home opener since 1996.

    WRIGHT STATE RAIDERS (6-11, 4-2)
  • Wright State has won four of its last six matches after dropping nine of its first 11 this season. The Raiders are 6-11 overall, but 4-2 in Horizon League action.
  • Wright State returned to the road last week after playing seven straight matches at home (Sept. 12-27).

    YOUNGSTOWN STATE PENGUINS (8-7, 1-4)
  • Senior Ebony Barbosa surpassed 850 career kills and 900 career digs over the weekend. She eclipsed 850 kills on Friday against Butler and reached the 900 digs plateau on Saturday vs. Valparaiso.
  • Junior Ruth Boscaljon reached 300 career blocks over the weekend by tallying nine at Butler and Valpo. She has 89 solo blocks and 215 block assists in her career. She ranks sixth in school history in total blocks, block assists and solo blocks.
  • Entering the weekend, Youngstown State was 5-0 when recording at least 10 blocks. The trend didn't continue as YSU posted 12 at Butler and 13 at Valparaiso -- both in losing efforts.
