Senior CLASS Award Finalists | Senior CLASS Award Voting

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Oakland men's soccer player Nick Kristock has been named one of 10 finalists for the 2013 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate soccer, announced on Wednesday. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.

Kristock, a defender from Novi, Mich., became the first-ever student-athlete to be awarded The Human Relations Award, given to the student that has made an outstanding contribution to intergroup understanding and conflict resolution of the university, and was also named the Oakland University Student Leader of the Year in April 2013. He is also the founder of Gigs For Good and Mission 50K, a non-profit organization that funds Christian missionaries around the globe and a service-based movement that is seeking to accrue 50,000 service/volunteer hours in a 6-month span. This season he has started all 12 matches for OU and has led a defense to a 0.98 goals-against average so far this season. He also helped the Oakland defense record three consecutive shutouts during the year and had a streak of 402:42 without allowing a goal.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

The finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of 30 men's candidates announced in August. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote on the Senior CLASS Award website through November 25. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches' votes to determine the winner. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2013 NCAA Men'sCollege Cup championship in December.
