Ewing, NJ … Dr. Sharon Beverly, assistant vice president for student affairs and executive director of athletics and recreation at The College of New Jersey, announced the hiring of Wayne Burrow as the new senior associate director of athletics for external affairs.

Burrow arrives from the Horizon League, where he most recently served as the associate commissioner for championships and scheduling.

"I am thrilled about the opportunity to come to The College of New Jersey," said Burrow. "The tradition and history of TCNJ athletics along with the college's commitment to academics make this the perfect job at this time in my career. My goal is to contribute to the success of all our athletics programs and make the experiences of our student-athletes a memorable one.  I want to thank Dr. Beverly and her staff for their confidence in me and look forward to serving and building meaningful relationships with the athletes, coaches, athletics staff, students, campus administrators, alumni and the surrounding community."

At TCNJ, Burrow will oversee game and event operations, marketing, camps and clinics, facility rentals and serve as the liaison to sports information.

"We are extremely fortunate to have someone of Wayne's experience joining our leadership team," noted Beverly. "I know that his experiences will greatly add to our abilities to continue our progress."

After joining the league office in 2009, Burrow enhanced Horizon League championship operations across all 19 championships and streamlined scheduling procedures for all team sports. During his time at the Horizon League, Burrow was responsible for overseeing cross country, men's soccer, swimming and diving, outdoor track and field, tennis and baseball championships.

In addition, Burrow was a vital member of the conference's men's basketball championship operations team. He also served as an operations coordinator during the 2010 Men's Final Four, 2011 Women's Final Four and 2009, 2013 and 2014 NCAA Men's Basketball Midwest Regionals in Indianapolis.

Prior to joining the Horizon League staff, Burrow worked for the NCAA where he finished his 17-year tenure as a Director of Championships.

While at the NCAA, Burrow worked with 14 different national championships, including the Baseball College World Series, Division I Swimming and Diving and Division III Football.  He served as a member of the Board of Directors for USA Swimming from 2001-2008 and USA Diving from 2004-08.  He was also the Swimming Technical Chairman for the 2009 World University Games staged in Belgrade, Serbia.

Burrow began his career with a one-year stint at the U.S. Military Academy before working at the University of Texas at Austin and his alma mater, College of William & Mary.  The Hopewell, Va., native, received his master's degree in Sports Administration from Ohio University.  Burrow and his wife Karen have two sons, Nathan and Neil.
