INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Butler senior Jessica Wolfe has been named Horizon League Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Valparaiso sophomore Taylor Root has earned Defensive Player-of-the-Week honors for the period of Aug. 23-29.

Wolfe, an outside hitter from Plainfield, Ind., collected 57 kills (4.72 kills per set) and 42 digs for the Bulldogs last week.  She tallied two double-doubles with 18 kills and 14 digs versus SMU, and 25 kills and 20 digs against Stephen F. Austin.  Wolfe also registered one ace, three assists, and averaged 4.88 points per set on the weekend, being named to the all-tournament team at the Baylor University Classic.

Root, a libero from Jenison, Mich., recorded 90 digs (6.0 dps) in 15 sets for the Crusaders last week.  She surpassed 20 digs in three of Valpo’s four matches, with a high of 27 in a win over La Salle on Friday.  She also recorded 16 assists over the weekend helping Valparaiso beat Hartford and Niagara on Saturday.

Butler returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Marian for a 7 p.m.  ET match.  Valparaiso is back on the hardwood Friday when it travels to Boone, N.C . for a 4:30 p.m. tilt against USC Upstate.
