(#1) UW-Milwaukee 76, (#8) Loyola 56
Milwaukee, Wis. - Traci Edwards scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the UW-Milwaukee to a 76-56 win over Loyola Thursday night in a Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship quarterfinal game.

With the win, the Panthers (20-8) will now host the semifinals and finals of the League tournament at the Klotsche Center, and UWM knows it will face Butler Sunday at noon in the first semifinal.

Milwaukee, the top seed in the tournament, led just 35-34 at halftime but outscored the eighth-seeded Ramblers (4-25) 41-22 in the second half.

Molly O'Brien added 18 points while Kim Wypiszynski pitched-in with 10 for the Panthers, who have now won a school-record 10-straight games and have reached 20 wins for just the second time in the school's Division I history. Marquise Hanser led Loyola with 17 points.

UWM led by as many as 11 points in the first half before the Ramblers finished the half on a 13-4 run to pull within a point at the break. But, the Panthers started the second half on a 15-1 run and then led by as many as 26 points en route to the easy win.

(#2) UW-Green Bay 63, (#7) Youngstown State 53
Green Bay, Wis. - Natalie Berglin scored a game-high 18 points as second-seeded UW-Green Bay withstood a charge by seventh-seeded Youngstown State to post a 63-53 win in a Horizon League Championship quarterfinal round match-up at the Phoenix Sports Center Thursday evening.

With the victory, the Phoenix (23-5) advances to take on third-seeded UIC in a semifinal round contest at 3:30 p.m. (EST) Sunday in Milwaukee.

The Phoenix controlled the action in the opening portions of the first half, as a lay-in by Nicole Soulis gave the hosts a 22-11 lead with 8:30 remaining. However, Berglin picked up her second foul of the game 30 seconds later and the Phoenix offense struggled the remainder of the half, scoring just six more points.

Berglin shot 7-of-12 from the field in the contest, including 4-of-6 from three-point range. Soulis, the Horizon League Player of the Year, contributed a solid all-around game for the Phoenix, totaling 13 points, nine rebounds, five blocked shots and four steals. Monique Godfrey led YSU with 13 points, while Jessica Schloemp added 12.

UW-Green Bay shot 53.2 percent (25 of 47) from the floor, while limiting the Penguins to 34.6 percent (18 of 52).

(#3) UIC 80, (#6) Wright State 78 (OT)
Chicago, Ill. - Chrissy Dizon's lay-up with 28 seconds left in overtime gave UIC an 80-78 victory over Wright State in the quarterfinal round of the Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship.

The Raiders jumped out to the early advantage, leading by as many as 13 points in the first half. The Flames ended the half on a 20-7 run over the last 4:30. UIC was able to overcome a 36.9 percent shooting effort by forcing the Raiders into 21 turnovers.

Reigning Player of the Week LaShonda Grant led four Flames in double figures with 19 points. Krystal Hugelier added 18, while Dizon and Jacquay Holmes each had 16 on the night.

Whitney Lewis posted a solid all-around performance with 19 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Rhea Mays chipped in 18 and Brittney Whiteside added 13. Ana Marisa Perez and Alicia Avery also notched double digits with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Avery grabbed nine boards in the contest.

With the win UIC improves to 15-13 on the season while Wright State ends its season at 12-16. The Flames take on UW-Green Bay at 3:30 p.m. (EST) on Sunday afternoon at the Klotsche Center in Milwaukee, Wis.
